In partnership with Conwy Education Services, we are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and talented young people to be part of the Conwy Youth Dance Group!
The process will start with an introductionary workshop.
Following this workshop, participants will be eligible for 1 further weekend to work with Cai Tomos to create a brand new piece to be performed in Youth Dance 3 and Dawns i Bawb’s events.
This is a unique opportunity to work with a highly acclaimed choreographer, develop your dance and performance skills.
Cai Tomos started dance with Dawns i Bawb, was a member of the Youth Dance Company and has since then become an acclaimed professional dancer and choreographer. Ysgol Bro Tegid y Bala"The perfomance was of a high standard right down to the props, music and their application. The whole concept flowed in a sophisticated manner. The children were inspired and enjoyed the workshop immensly."
Ysgol San Siôr
Following the success of last year, the show is now back on tour and sold out!
'Mr Rat and the Keeper' An action packed dance theatre production exploring the 4 R's of reducing, repairing, reusing and recycling and the effects of climate change on our home the Earth.
We follow the journey of Mr. Rat and The Keeper on their quest to find Mrs. Rat who has been swept away by the floods. Our characters travel the world on a magical recycled junk machine, meeting other animals along the way who help them learn more about their world and the effect that too much rubbish has on their homes. But will they find what they're looking for? And will they return home with a greater understanding of our planet?
An interactive learning experience for children to be empowered to live in harmony with their environment.
The show will be available for touring again later during the year!
Follow up activities for schools
Available all year
In parallel, we have developed a series of follow up activities; over the course of 10 weeks, the children will explore more in depth the themes of the show. They will collect waste they generate at home or at school and together with the dance teacher, use them to create their own show turning the waste, music instruments...
Locator 2
Dawns i Bawb and Migrations present
Saturday 12th September 2009
Location; to be confirmed
Time: to be confirmed
‘Locator 2’ (PROVISIONAL TITLE)
The Locator project is an ongoing series of residential workshops exploring the implicit relationships between ecology, perception and movement.
In September 2007, we invited Simon Whitehead to lead a residency in the beautiful landscapes of the National Parc in Rowen, Conwy, offering the possibility to the dancers to use their natural environment as a source of inspiration to create movement.
It was such an inspirational experience that we decided to go a step further.
This time we are inviting sound / new music and visual artists alongside dance and movement artists to create a public site specific performance.
Audience members will be invited to come for a walk leading them to witness each work and discover this stunning location through the arts.
The work will be performed by local talents selected by Dawns i Bawb and Simon Whitehead. International dance artists will also be part of the process and invited by Migrations, series of contemporary dance events featuring high profile international artists.
Simon’s background in Dance and Movement continues to be central to the work he makes; it is the body's ecological paradigm and relation to its environment that are a basis from which he meditates and realises a series of propositions and experiences shared directly, or indirectly with an audience. This work seeks to connect humanity with nature and enliven participation on a physical and poetic level, often embracing the possibilities of technology as a bridge.
